Leve Feyenoord 1!

World Cup coming up again next year. Already excited, it's going to be the second last world cup with 32 teams in it. After that they're upgrading it, though stupidly it's barely going to affect Europe's qualification spots.

Teams qualified so far:

  • Russia
  • France
  • Portugal
  • Germany
  • Serbia
  • Poland
  • England
  • Spain
  • Belgium
  • Iceland
  • Switzerland
  • Croatia
  • Sweden
  • Denmark
  • Brazil
  • Uruguay
  • Argentina
  • Colombia
  • Peru
  • Mexico
  • Costa Rica
  • Panama
  • Nigeria
  • Egypt
  • Tunisia
  • Morocco
  • Senegal
  • Iran
  • South Korea
  • Japan
  • Saudi Arabia
  • Australia

Definitely a couple of surprises especially regarding teams not competing. the Netherlands, United States, Ghana, Cameroon. Those are teams you'd usually expect to make it.
But also 2 teams making their first ever world cup appearance: Panama and Iceland.
So far Germany, Brazil and France are looking like the most solid teams. They're having the best chance I think. Also very impressed with Poland, I'm expecting much from them this World Cup.

I think group F is gonna be pretty interesting. I don't think England would get out of that one.

It truly was a Shawshank redemption

It'd be tougher, that's for sure. I'd probably put us on par with Sweden atm, but South Korea aren't great currently.

No group of death indeed, but that wasn't really possible either with the pot division this year. Completely based on FIFA ranking instead of the usual confederations. I would say group D is the toughest group. I woudln't be too surprised if Argentina didn't make it.

If I had to predict the group stages:
A: 1. Uruguay 2. Russia 3. Egypt 4. Saudi-Arabia
B: 1. Spain 2. Portugal 3. Morocco 4. Iran
C: 1. France 2. Denmark 3. Peru 4. Australia
D: 1. Croatia 2. Argentina 3. Iceland 4. Nigeria
E: 1. Brazil 2. Serbia 3. Switzerland 4. Costa Rica
F: 1. Germany 2. Sweden 3. Mexico 4. South Korea
G: 1. Belgium 2. England 3. Tunisia 4. Panama
H: 1. Poland 2. Colombia 3. Japan 4. Senegal

EDIT:
Also one of the referees is called Mohammed Mohamed. I just thought that was funny.

Mohammed Mohamed is fairly common. We had someone named that at school.
